Sustaining Heartburns and Hernia Against all Odds

Overview

Ranjan was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia. He was prescribed medications due to his medical history of heartburn and reflux. Unfortunately, the medications did not react well and he used to vomit frequently. Recurrent occurences of diarrhea were adding to his woes.
 
In 2014, Ranjan approached Sharda Hospital. An endoscopy was suggested since he was vomiting so frequently and vigorously. It revealed that he had developed diverticula in his throat. 
He was referred to the specialist in the Department for Minimal Access Surgery, Dr. Suresh Kalyansundar, who suggested him to undergo a surgery. 

During the surgery it was discovered that hernia had wrapped around his rib cage and was pushing the ribs, causing shortness of breath. Surgery was performed in February 2014 after which he is presently stable and asymptomatic.
