Breastfeeding is the building block making its way to hail and hearty baby. One of the most natural ways of feeding the baby, it gives a child all the nutrition it needs during the first few months of life. To ensure excellent baby health, having a knack for easy breastfeeding tips is always recommended. Since breastfeeding is one of the first contacts that the mother and newborn have, it helps the two connect with each other.

Easy Breastfeeding Tips

However, to ensure the process is flawless, a few easy breastfeeding tips and tricks would always come handy for the mother. After all, the health benefits of breastfeeding are countless, and nothing in this world can help the baby as much as the first few months of breastfeeding can. To ensure that the breastfeeding process comes without challenges, here are a few tips one could swear by to ensure you are a pro.

1. Position yourself belly to belly and nose to nipple

While feeding the baby, the mother must ensure that the baby’s stomach is touching hers so that the baby doesn’t need to turn its head to latch. Also, point the nipple to the baby’s nose and not her mouth so they can lift their head, open their mouth wide and latch on firmly.

2. Do not put pressure on the back of the baby’s head

If one does that, the baby may resist and bite on your nipple. Instead, one must position the hands at the nape of the baby’s neck, guiding the baby swiftly to the mother’s breast.

3. Don’t look at the time

Do not time the feeding session as, frankly, it is of no use. Leave the baby on the first breast until he/she pulls back. After that, offer the second breast. Depending on the mood, the baby may either drink from one breast or simultaneously from both.

4. Drink lots of water

The water we drink is ultimately converted to milk and, it takes a lot of water to make milk. Till the time the body settles down and realises what it is doing, one would require lots of water. New moms must keep a bottle of water always handy, sipping every few minutes.

5. The practice would make it easier

It is not an easy task to breastfeed. As time goes by, the process would be much easier for both the baby and the mother. One needs to be patient while breastfeeding because adjustment would take time and is not a day’s task.

6. Do not worry about supply

When the mother breastfeeds, the biggest challenge is understanding the consumption of milk. The baby might always seem hungry, and the mother might worry about not making enough milk. The quantity of milk a mother can pump is not related to the amount of milk the baby is receiving. If the baby is making 5-6 wet diapers a day, the supply is completely okay.

7. Newborns drink lots of milk

Newborn babies are always hungry, and no food is better than breastmilk for babies. It is easy to digest, and the baby needs to consume it as often as possible. Breasts work on the principle of demand and supply. If the demand is high, the supply would automatically increase. Basically, the baby itself helps the mother to understand the demand.

8. Buy bras thoughtfully

The breast size of the breastfeeding mother would change a few times during, before and after nursing. Hence, while purchasing bras, ensure that it is stretchable and has room for these normal changes.

9. Feed the baby before crying

It is best to feed the baby before crying because otherwise, it would be hard for the baby to settle down. Moreover, excessive crying would cause the baby to drink too much milk, which is, in turn, harmful to the baby. One of the best things about breastfeeding is that once the mother and baby figure out the correct method to latch, hold, it becomes much easier. Besides, once the mother and baby realize what to eat, drink and how to sit, the process is as really easy.
