Everyone wants a healthy and glowing skin so look healthy and younger. A happy skin reflects a healthy body and mind.
Instead of taking care of the skin by getting various treatments, isn’t it better to take care of it right now? A few changes to the lifestyle can ensure a healthy looking glowing skin that is a dream for many.
How does the skin age?
The self-produced protein, the collagen that helps in holding the skin together, keeps it looking younger and gives it elasticity and firmness. During the more youthful days, our skin stays smooth because collagen continually regenerates itself.
However, as we age, the production of collagen slows, and even the existing collagen may get damaged due to skin habits. This results in wrinkles and sagging of the skin. However, the good news is that one can slow this process by taking care of the skin.
Here are some of the changes that would help you with healthy and glowing skin.
Eat Omega 3s-
Omega 3s, also known as “good fats” are present in foods such as salmon, almonds, and flaxseed. They help the skin by ensuring proper hydration and keeping it firm and supple. On the other hand, saturated fat damages the skin making it more prone to ageing; it is best to limit the intake of saturated fat.
Exercise Regularly-
Women who work out regularly have firmer skin when compared to other women who do not exercise. A simple reason behind this is that exercise infuses the skin with nutrients and oxygen required for collagen production. For keeping the skin tone, it is advisable to have at least 3 exercise sessions a week.
Hydrate yourself-
Hydration is one of the essential beauty tips for better skin. Water makes a significant chunk of the body and not consuming enough water can affect the body negatively. Try to drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water daily to keep the skin hydrated. Moreover, instead of aerated drinks, switch over to coconut water as it is much healthier.
Consume a balanced diet-
A healthy meal that includes all the required nutrients is highly recommended for a glowing and younger looking skin. Include pulses, fresh fruits, vegetables and other healthy components to your diet to have a glowing complexion.
Skin Care Routine-
Just going for a facial once in a while does not count as a skincare routine. To ensure healthy and glowing skin, follow a skin-care routine that includes toning, moisturising and cleansing. While cleansing takes care of the dead cells and gunk, toning handles pores and moisturising benefits the skin texture.
Consume Red Wine-
Red wine is a beverage that is well known for its anti-ageing properties. It also had anti-oxidative properties. The drink may prevent damages that are triggered by free radicals.
Moisturising-
Moisturising is vital as it boosts the skin’s cell regeneration. For nights, a creamy and thick moisturiser would be really beneficial. Moreover, it is also advisable to take care of the under-eye skin- apply a moisturiser for that as well.
Ditch Sodium for dinner-
Consumption of excess sodium, especially before going to bed, may cause the eyelids to retain excess fluids. For proper care, sleep on an elevated surface as it allows the head elevation preventing fluid from pooling in the skin.
Apply Sunscreen-
Wearing sunscreen is the most important for younger looking skin. Even minimal exposure to UVA “ageing” rays can cause wrinkle-leading changes in a few weeks. It is advisable to apply an SPF 30 ideally every day to prevent the skin from ageing.
Ignore the cravings-
Overindulging in cravings like sugar, corn syrup, dextrose and fruit-juice concentrate can lead to ageing of the skin. Besides, it also weakens collagen and elastin in the early years of life.
